On Grief & Loss: A Personal Account
Apr 18, 2025
I am pleased to have you with me in order to share this personal account.
I am now entering the 84th year of my birth. One year ago, unfortunately, my wife of 58 years was killed crossing a street in Florida at a pedestrian crossing. Moreover, at the start of this year (2024), I had a cardiac arrest and my heart stopped for 14 minutes. I have committed to trying to be resilient in response to these events.
Recently, I've had an opportunity to talk about individuals who are in the midst of grieving, and in many cases, experiencing prolonged and complicated grief reactions. I actually gave a presentation on this topic at the Evolution of Psychotherapy Conference in 2024, that I invite you to watch and listen to on the accompanying link to my presentation.
But here's the unusual feature in this presentation: I am the client. I am being interviewed by a therapist and I highlight some of the cautions of dealing with grief. I hope you will find this of interest and I invite you to listen to this tape and incorporate any of the guidance I have to offer.
As always, thank you for your interest and attention.
